The Team

This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of an innovative online learning service that Pearson runs supporting students all over the world. Working in partnership with universities across the UK, France and India the division provides online learning services including marketing, student recruitment, course content development, training and ongoing student support and retention. The team are currently going through a period of unprecedented growth due to a surge in demand for online learning and the recent launch of, a marketplace for a broad selection of high quality, career-focused online learning offerings.

The Role

POLS International is looking for a driven data-oriented professional with exceptional Business Partnering skills for the role of Learner Acquisition Analyst. This role is responsible for working predominantly with the Student Recruitment team to gain deep quantitative and qualitative insight into our learners from the point of lead generation to conversion, making POLS more knowledgeable, agile and pro-active regarding the sale of our programmes to prospective learners. This role will set up projects and processes to identify and understand all elements of sales cycle with a strong focus on improving conversion and producing short, mid and long term forecasts.

This role is intrinsically linked to the POLS’ value of Excellence and will seek to increase the standard of our current operations and influence change towards a more data-driven business.

Key requirements of the role:

  • Lead on the design, development and deployment of data tools and visualisations to assist functional areas supporting student recruitment, playing a coaching role to these teams to help them make better decisions through data

  • Take a quantitative approach towards student recruitment and conversion rates, identifying patterns, trends, underlying reasons and potential improvements or solutions

  • Engage with partners to maximise data sharing and optimization, including the development of analytics based on learners demographics

  • Champion data skills, acting as an ambassador for data driven approaches and marginal data skills improvement across the Student Recruitment and Student Operations teams

  • Continuously produce insight on distance learners across the UK and International partnerships, positioning Pearson as the expert OPM provider for both current and prospective partners

  • Establish relevant benchmarks and KPIs for success in Student Recruitment across different products and markets

  • Strong analytical skills – ability to manipulate data and conduct analysis to provide meaningful, actionable insights

  • Exceptional business partnering skills. Able to work with and present to all levels of seniority

  • Advanced tableau visualisation skills

  • Advanced Excel/Modelling skills required

  • Inquisitive nature; pro-active approach to thinking through and solving problems

  • Focus on quality and smart ways of working

  • Strong communication skills: the ability to convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.

Key Attributes – Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of Salesforce CRM

  • Working knowledge and understanding of simple financial and budgeting practices

  • Experience working within a HE setting

  • Experience working in a fast-growing start-up business
